It is tough to prove myself capable of

being excited for what others have to say,

                whether in writing or in person

and not just excited, but appropriately so

because we can all be gleeful at times, but

that isn’t always wise – the more you hang on

someone’s words, the heavier the fall when they

cut the conversation off, and yet it is only

an ass that takes no joy in what

the other person says

and I regret each day that we have no hybrid of

the exclamation mark and the period, which could be

applied to small victories

like a shared laugh with an attractive stranger,

                or a poem that strikes you in just the right way
